ScanTran is the name adopted for the IGBP high latitude terrestrial transect (Koch et al. 1995) through Scandinavia and northern Europe.

The workshop in Rovaniemi represented the third in a series of workshops leading to the development of the ScanTran Science Plan submitted to the IGBP in 1998.
