On Wednesday 27 May at 14:00 UTC, PAGES will conduct a webinar with the World Data Service for Paleoclimatology (WDS-Paleo).

A replay of the webinar with a live Q&A session will be shown on Thursday 28 May at 17:00 UTC.

The webinar "Promoting FAIR principles at NOAA’s World Data Service for Paleoclimatology" will be presented by WDS-Paleo's Carrie Morrill. Morrill and her WDS-Paleo colleagues Wendy Gross and Imke Durre will be available for questions.

PAGES Magazine for Teens

Details
Published: Wednesday, 13 May 2020 11:00

pages eye logoPAGES is preparing a special magazine issue for teenagers! This issue will highlight paleoscience topics of interest to the next generation, written in an easy to understand format. The objective is to present global change from a paleo perspective.

Papers should tell a story by addressing a scientific question and including appealing and understandable figures/images without sacrificing scientific rigor; they should highlight debates/dilemmas for present and future societies related to the topic.

All paleoscience topics that echo the younger generation's questions about our relationships with the environment and the Earth system are welcome.

Call for authors - 30 June 2020

IPCC AR6 WGII extensions

Details
Published: Monday, 04 May 2020 12:40

ipccWorking Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which assesses scientific literature relating to impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, has revised the timeline for preparing its contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) because of disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Authors of IPCC reports volunteer their time and expertise. A survey by Working Group II found that its authors are experiencing unique and sustained challenges in the wake of COVID-19. Their ability to deliver to the original timeline has been compromised by competing responsibilities, limited resources and diverse personal challenges.

In light of these challenges, Working Group II is extending a number of milestones due to be reached in 2020 by around four months. The cut-off date for scientific literature to be submitted for publication, if it is to be included in the assessment, moves to 1 November 2020. The government and expert review of the report’s Second Order Draft will now take place between 4 December 2020 and 29 January 2021. The Fourth Lead Author Meeting to prepare the final draft will now be held in March 2021.
